B. Health and Safety
We ensure the occupational safety of workers and the providing of a sanitary environment.
We identify and assess potential workplace risks (e.g., chemicals, electrical and other energy sources, fire, vehicle, and fall hazards) and implement appropriate risk mitigation and management measures to ensure worker safety.
Upon identifying and assessing potential emergencies (e.g., disasters and accidents), we establish emergency response measures, procedures, and recovery plans to minimize damage. These measures, procedures, and plans focus on minimizing damage to life, the environment, and assets.
Upon ascertaining the status of occupational accidents and illnesses, we prevent them by establishing regulations and mechanisms to provide necessary treatments, investigate cases, and implement corrective measures to eliminate their causes, as well as to facilitate the return of employees to work.
We provide workers with clean restroom facilities, drinking water, resting rooms, and sanitary eating environments. We also provide sanitary and safe living environments in the case of dormitories.
We educate workers on health and hygiene, in addition to providing easy-to-understand information on health and hygiene in the workplace.
We ensure worker safety by identifying and assessing the risks to which workers are exposed due to chemical, biological, and physical substances, and by implementing appropriate risk mitigation and management measures.
C. Environment
We strive to minimize events that may have adverse effects on the community, environment, and natural resources, while ensuring a safe environment. In doing so, we will also refer to environmental management systems, such as ISO 14001.
We track and document energy consumption and all associated Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions at the facility or company level. We also strive continually to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
We manage the use of water to reduce consumption, and ensure the proper treatment and management of wastewater in accordance with locally applicable laws and regulations.
Volatile organic compounds, aerosols, corrosives, particulates, ozone depleting substances, and by-products of combustion generated by our operations are analyzed for content, and treated and controlled as necessary before being discharged. We also monitor and control the status of substances emitted into the atmosphere.
We obtain, maintain, and keep all required environmental permits, approvals, and registrations updated in accordance with applicable local laws and regulations, and issue all required reports.
We strive to reduce the emission of pollutants and waste by changing production, maintenance, and equipment processes, or other means. We also strive to reduce the consumption of natural resources by modifying equipment, using alternatives, and reusing or reducing the use of natural resources.
Chemicals and other substances that pose a hazard to human health or the environment are identified, labeled, and managed, in addition to ensuring safe handling, transportation, storage, use, recycling or reuse, and disposal.
Solid waste (non-hazardous) is identified and properly managed, reduced, and responsibly disposed of or recycled.
