Overview
Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province and the political, cultural, and economic center of Southwest China.
It is also one of 15 sub-provincial cities (cities that are given significant autonomy) in China.
With its abundance of products and favorable climate, it has long been called the “Land of Abundance.”

History
The city was established in 611 B.C. and has continued its development since the Qin period.
It flourished as the capital of Shu during the Three Kingdoms period, and its economy has developed remarkably, especially since the Tang and Song dynasties.
It is a politically stable city, and its name and location have remained unchanged since its establishment.

Culture & Tourism
Chengdu is known throughout the world as the “City of the Three Kingdoms,” the “City of gourmet food,” and the “Home of the panda.”
The city of the Three Kingdoms: The city is steeped in the culture of the Three Kingdoms period and has many historical tourist attractions.
The city of gourmet food: Sichuan cuisine, including mapo doufu, is world-famous.
The home of the panda: The panda is a national treasure of China, and it lives only in the bamboo forests of the Sichuan Basin. The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is also located in Sichuan.
