■Background of the Seminar
Hokkaido has set a target to increase the number of foreign tourists visiting Hokkaido to 5 million per year around 2020.
According to a survey by the Tourism Bureau of the Hokkaido Economic Affairs Department, the number of foreign visitors to Hokkaido in the first half of FY 2008 (April to September) was 1,355,900, up 12.6% from the same period last year, exceeding 1.3 million for the first time in the first half, thanks to new international regular flights and increased flights, despite the impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake and other factors. The number of visitors from China, in particular, increased to 271,000 in the first half of the year.
Among them, 271,600 tourists came from China, accounting for more than 20% of the total, indicating the high popularity of Hokkaido in China. In this seminar, we will explain how to attract Chinese tourists efficiently while adding the latest information on the Chinese market and case studies. We will also share how to build a Chinese inbound model city through public-private partnership in order to succeed in the inbound business in Asahikawa.
