■ Background of the event
With the spread of the “new coronavirus infection” that broke out in China in 2020, the inbound industry has been hit hard by a series of travel cancellations by Chinese visitors to Japan. According to Nomura Research Institute, if the impact of this new pneumonia were to decrease the number of visitors to Japan by the same percentage as in the case of the SARS outbreak in 2003, and if this were to continue for one year, it is estimated to decrease by 2.475 trillion yen, equivalent to 0.45% of Japan’s total GDP.
With stricter restrictions on Chinese departures and Japanese entries, it will be a long time before the number of Chinese visitors to Japan returns to its previous level, even if the spread of the disease begins to wane in the near future. In the meantime, the drop in in-band demand will continue to take a toll on related consumer-related industries.” The situation was described as follows. Furthermore, the spread of the infection is becoming more serious in Japan, and consideration is rapidly being given to remote work and online deployment.
In this context, we will share on-the-spot information on how changes are taking place between companies and individual users on the Chinese side, where digitization is progressing, against the backdrop of this new coronavirus. We will also bring in experts who have been involved in inbound promotion to explore
“How Japanese companies facing the same situation should tackle it”
“When and how to respond to resume Japan-China related business”
at this event.
