■Background of the increasing number of companies engaging in China promotion and future initiatives
Baidu advertising is one of the most appropriate means to create awareness in the Chinese market, and is also used to promote inbound tourism to Japan for this purpose.
According to a February 15 announcement by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the number of foreign visitors to Japan in January reached 1,497,300, up 55.7% from the same month in 2019, with the number of visitors from East Asian markets in particular exceeding 1 million.
China, which was the largest market before the Corona disaster, saw only 31,200 visitors, down 95.9% from the same month of 2019, due to continued restrictions on overseas travel to Japan and entry upon return, as well as water border controls on the Japanese side. According to the Japan Tourism Agency’s survey on foreign visitor spending trends released on January 18, 2022 for the October-December period, travel spending per foreign visitor to Japan (general visitors) was 212,332 yen, a 24.6% increase over the same period in 2019, indicating an upward trend in travel spending after the Corona disaster.
