We are pleased to announce that Duan Wengui, an actress and model who has appeared on NHK’s “Chinese on TV” and other programs, and Ryo Takeuchi, a China-based director who has produced documentaries on Japan and China, will be speaking at a seminar on how to attract tourists.
After coming to Japan, Ms. Duan enrolled in the Journalism Course of the Graduate School of Political Science, Waseda University in April 2011. After that, she appeared regularly on NHK E-TV’s “Chinese on TV” for 6 years. She has also served as an image character for the “Chinese Communication Proficiency Test” and the “Chinese Horizontal Proficiency Test,” a Chinese language qualification recognized by the Chinese government, and has appeared on numerous NHK and commercial TV programs as a Chinese TV personality who connects Japan and China. Recently, she has been expanding her activities as a popular KOL, conveying the good qualities of Japan to the rest of the world, as a stage and film actor, and as a commentator.
Mr. Takeuchi debuted as a director in 2005 and has produced China-related documentaries for NHK’s “Changjiang: The Great Journey of Heaven and Earth,” “World Heritage,” and TV Tokyo’s “Future Century Zipangu.” In 2013, he moved to Nanjing, China with his Chinese wife and established the program production company WANOYUME. 2015. From 2020, he will produce corona-related documentaries such as “Countermeasures against Infection in Nanjing,” “It’s been a long time, Wuhan,” and “The Age of China After Corona,” and in 2021, he will produce “The Age of China After Corona. and others, and in 2021 was selected as one of Newsweek’s “100 Most Respected Japanese in the World”.
According to figures released by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the number of visitors to Japan exceeded 2 million in June this year for the first time since February 2020, when the number of visitors declined significantly due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. Although there are restrictions on Chinese group travel to Japan, Mr. Takeuchi will also be a guest to discuss future trends in inbound travel from China.
