OpenLimit Holding AG (headquartered in Baar, Switzerland; Marc Gurov, CEO; hereinafter “OpenLimit”) announced that OpenLimit has officially delivered the new electronic ID card system, version 1.0, to the German Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) as scheduled, and that the new electronic authentication system will be operational in Germany from November 1, 2010. The eID era in Germany begins]

Last November, the Minister of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) appointed Siemens IT Solutions and Services (Siemens IT Solutions and Services, Germany) for the new electronic identification card issuing system and OpenLimit GmbH for the software development involved. OpenLimit, Inc. was appointed to develop the software for the new system.
Marc Gurov, CEO of OpenLimit, said with pleasure: “Today is the day of the new German ID ordinance. Today, the new German ID ordinance is being implemented. With this new document, all German citizens will be able to prove their identity online and communicate via secure authentication on the Internet in the future.

[Electronic Identification (eID) server provided by OpenLimit]
In Germany, since January 2010, about 200 companies and public institutions have been testing this new ID card, a system for new electronic identification cards and an eID server. The German Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) expects that at least 50 of them will implement this system next year.
The new electronic identification card issuance will be realized by all online service providers that use the new ID card, connecting their websites with the eID server. The eID server has already been successfully launched by OpenLimit and Bundesdruckerei during the new ID card test period. In addition, OpenLimit has tested the implementation of the eID server with several other partners and is ready for production today.
