PhysioDesigner, an open platform for multilevel biofunctional modeling, was presented at Neuro Informatics2013 (August 27-29) in Stockholm, Sweden.

Neuro Informatics 2013 is an international conference in the field of neuroinformatics organized by the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Forum (INCF). Neuroinformatics is the interface between neuroscience and information science and technology, and is a new research field that seeks to comprehensively organize and analyze diverse and vast amounts of data in order to advance brain (neural) science.

PhysioDesigner is an open platform that supports multilevel modeling of physiological functions in a wide range of fields of integrated life science and systems biology. Currently, OIST (Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University) and Osaka University are playing a leading role in its development. Since 2007, we have been contributing to the development of the platform by taking on a portion of the development work. This presentation focuses on the application of PhysioDesigner to neuroscience.

Dr. Yoshiyuki Asai of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) was the first author of a presentation on PhysioDesigner’s potential applications in neuroscience at the Neuro Informatics 2013 conference. Dr. Yoshiyuki Asai of the Graduate University of Science and Technology (OIST), Japan, was the first author of the presentation, which focused on the potential applications of PhysioDesigner in neuroscience.

In addition to mathematical description, it is important to integrate morphological models in the modeling of physiological functions. We have supported the process of integrating morphological models into models developed on PhysioDesigner by implementing an extension to Image Viewer, which is implemented as a function of PhysioDesigner.
